Janice Elaine Sproat, born April 10, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, was called home unexpectedly to be with the Lord on February 7, 2025.
From a young age, Janice was full of life and adventure, making cherished memories with her brothers, sister, cousins, and neighborhood friends. At 19, she faced a tragic car accident that changed her path, but her strength and resilience carried her forward, allowing her to live a beautiful and meaningful life.

Janice graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended clerical school before beginning a successful career at GTE/Verizon, where she worked for 25 years, forming many lasting friendships along the way.

On January 29, 1983, she married the love of her life, Steve. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Soon after, they welcomed their beloved daughter and only child, Lacey, bringing immeasurable happiness and forever changing their lives.
She was a woman of great love, generosity, and kindness—always caring for her family and friends, especially children and babies. Janice was known for her wit, fun-loving spirit, and straightforward nature. She made friends wherever she went, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Janice found joy in the simple things—taking care of her husband, spending time with her daughter, and keeping her family connected through gatherings and celebrations. She loved visiting casinos, dining at her favorite restaurants, Chuy's, Vinos Italian, and Texas Roadhouse every Sunday with her husband. She also took pride tending to her garden, transforming it into a beautiful oasis for Easter parties and summers by the pool.

Janice's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Steve Sproat, and their beloved daughter, Lacey Sproat, who was not only her pride and joy but her best friend until her final day. She also leaves behind her cherished fur baby, Trooper, and grand-fur baby, Buddy.

She is additionally survived by her brothers, Bill (Janice) Philen and Gary (Tisha) Pruiett; her sister, Karen Sutherland (Larry Cates); her sisters-in-law, Debbie Mechlem (Paul Mandich) and Kristina (Ron) Jones; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who she adored.

She was preceded in death by Marion (father) and Ruthlene Pruiett (mother); Michael and Sharon Pruiett (brother and sister-in-law); Lee and Julie Pruiett (brother and sister-in-law); Carrie and Tim Martin (sister-in-law and brother-in-law); Ronnie Pruiett (brother); Orval Sproat (father-in-law) and David Sproat (brother-in-law).

Janice's presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to everyone around her. Though her time on earth was cut short, the memories she created and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Service Details:

The Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and the Funeral Service will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, TX. The Graveside Service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Denton, TX. A reception will follow at the residence of Steve and Janice Sproat.
