Janice Lynn Overton (née Wade), 77, of Grand Prairie, TX, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024. Janice was born on November 23, 1946, in Houston, and was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Dorothy Wade.

Janice is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Scott; their children Debbie Bonner (husband Edd), Ginny Gribble and Katherine Williams (husband Christopher); grandchildren Christina Karr (husband Bryan), Ryan Knight, Michael Bonner, Grace Williams and Mariah Gribble; and great grandchildren Brayden and Cameron Karr. Janice is further survived by her sisters Patsy Hammock (husband Ken) and Judy Thomas (husband Mike) as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

Janice and Scott met when they both worked for a contractor at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. After marriage, they returned to Grand Prairie where Janice spent many years working as an administrative assistant at the Boy Scouts of America's national office in Irving until her retirement.

While raising her three children, Janice was often known to help other children who needed a place to stay in her home. She was a Girl Scout leader and active PTO member when her children were young and was well known for her fun camping adventures. She continued that tradition later by sponsoring a Boy Scout Venturing group that she took camping and traveling, going on adventures as far away as China and Australia.

After her children were older, she returned to school at the University of Texas at Arlington and earned her Bachelor's in Business Administration.

In her later years she was an active member of the Grand Prairie Quilt Guild and spent many happy hours quilting. She was an animal lover and rescued many, including her beloved dog Yoda.
