Janet Ann Upchurch, 85, of Richardson, Texas, passed away in Longview, Texas on March 20th, 2024.  She was born in Salina, Kansas in 1938 but spent most of her youth in Ft. Worth, Texas and North Little Rock, Arkansas. She studied at Arkansas Tech and later lived in San Antonio, Little Rock, Austin, Lufkin and Tulsa before settling in Richardson, Texas in 1973. She worked in banking during most of her adult life, starting with Texas Federal and staying with the company through many corporate transitions until her retirement in 2003 from Chase Bank.

Janet first and foremost loved Jesus and was a redeemed child of God. She studied His Word relentlessly and lived by faith. She loved worship and playing hymns on the piano that filled her heart and home with joy and truth. She was an incredible example to her family of love and commitment and what it looks like to live a life of persevering faith.

She was also the most committed and loving mother anyone could ever hope for.  The work ethic, humility and persistence she exhibited has impacted our family, and us individually, in mighty ways.  She was tenacious in the face of challenges and her determination to provide for, support, and love our family is still amazing to us all.  We will be forever grateful to the Lord for placing us under the care and love of such an incredible woman.

Her life was also characterized by how she sacrificially and selflessly served others and loved her family, grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed long phone conversations, traveling, planting flowers and planning cruises with her parents.

Janet is survived by her children Tom Upchurch (wife Cheryl) of Peachtree City, Georgia, Stan Upchurch (wife Cheryl) of Longview, Texas, Wes Upchurch (wife Shelly) of Flower Mound, Texas, Melanie Cannon (husband Scott) of Springfield, Missouri, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

We want to thank Rosewood Assisted Living in Flower Mound, Buckner Westminster Place Memory Care and Lifecare Hospice in Longview, Texas for the many years of kind and gentle care they gave to our mother.
