Jana Jane (Pittman) Dalton

January 6, 1960 - October 22, 2026

Jana Jane (Pittman) Dalton was born on January 6, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, at Baylor Hospital. She spent her early years in Dallas before her family moved to Abilene, Texas, where she grew up and made many lasting memories. She graduated from Abilene Cooper High School in 1978.

During her high school years, Jana worked at Baskin-Robbins, where she decorated cakes and shared her creativity. She was also a proud business owner, opening J&J’s Sandwich Shop, which was the first establishment in Abilene to offer frozen yogurt.

After graduating, Jana moved to Lubbock, Texas, where she began working in the medical field at a local hospital. It was there that she met her doctor and lifelong friends. Later, she lived in Lewisville, Texas, and worked as a cashier at Sony for many years. Throughout her life, Jana was hardworking and dedicated, always finding ways to contribute and care for those around her.

On May 20, 1995, Jana married David Dalton in Las Vegas, Nevada, at an all-night wedding chapel. Together, they built a life filled with memories and worked alongside one another in the vending machine and cleaning businesses they owned.

Jana had a love for music that began in high school, where she played the trumpet. She continued to enjoy music and attending concerts throughout her life. One of her favorite television shows was I Love Lucy, and anyone who had ever visited her bathroom knew just how much she treasured her beloved collectibles. She also enjoyed cooking, photography, camping, and gardening.

Above all, Jana had a great big heart and loved spending time with her family and friends. Her home was a special gathering place for countless family holiday celebrations, where memories were made, laughter was shared, and loved ones came together. The warmth, love, and joy she brought into the lives of others will always be remembered.

Jana was preceded in death by her father, Wallace William Pittman; her mother, Margie Marie (Hill) Pittman; her brother, Marvin Talman Pittman; and her niece, Lindy Dawn Poindexter.

She leaves behind her loving husband, David Dalton; her daughter, Ashley; her brother, Wayne Pittman; her sister, Gina Michelle Hamilton; and her children, Stephen, Sean, and Rebekah. She is also survived by her niece, Catrina Tobias, and her husband, William; her niece, Whitney Tobias; her nephew, Justin Roberts; her niece, Shelley Root, and her children, Elizabeth Woods and Ethan Wood; her great-nephew, Chase Coker; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.

Jana’s life was filled with hard work, laughter, cherished traditions, and love for the people who meant the most to her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the love she shared, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family and friends will live on forever.

She will be loved, remembered, and missed always.
