James Cory Toombs, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 30, 2026.  Cory was born on May 10, 1981, in Houston, TX and from the very beginning, he lived life loudly, boldly, and with his whole heart.

Cory was full of life and energy.  He never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel like they had known him forever.  He loved staying active, working with his hands, and embracing life to the fullest and he truly lived!

Cory was an avid bowler and had a natural talent and could have easily become a professional bowler.  He was also a gifted golfer and found joy in any activity that kept him moving and challenged.  Basically, Cory was pretty much talented at any sport.  Cory graduated high school from Carrollton Christian School in Carrollton, TX and played Football and Basketball, later spending almost 2 years at the University of Oklahoma. Cory began his career cutting hair but soon realized he needed more challenge, eventually becoming a contractor where he specialized in remodeling work that allowed him to create, build, and stay hands-on just as he loved.

Though Cory never married or had children, his love for his family ran deep - especially for his nephews.  He rarely missed a chance to attend baseball games and proudly watched his youngest nephew Deacon play, cheering from the stands with enthusiasm only Cory could bring.

Cory's heart belonged to his Dog, "Tucker", his constant companion and best friend.  Wherever Cory went Tucker went too--whether it was the bowling alley, dog park, movies, or just out living life together.  Cory loved all dogs, and was an exceptional dog owner, Tucker truly was his life!

Cory is survived by his loving mother, Suzie Thole Burress, his brother Blake Thole, his 3 nephews, Keaton, Brayden and Deacon and one niece Addyson, and his grandmother, June Toombs and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  His absence leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Though his time with us was far too short, Cory's love, laughter, and unforgettable presence will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
