James Clifton Little Obituary

James Little, a most beloved, cherished and adored husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on July 24, 2025 in Flower Mound, Texas.  Born on January 16, 1955 in Marks, Mississippi, James had a life filled with love, joy and happiness.

James was the son of Clifton Little, Jr. and Emiko (Wada) Little who preceded him in death.  His love of family and devotion to his friends, was the epitome of his life.   He shared a beautiful marriage of 45 years with the love of his life, Gail Anne Gwin, a true testament to love at first sight.

Blessed with a loving family, James is survived by his wife Gail, his children, James (Jimmy) and his wife Brittany and Robert (Bobby) who brought joy and happiness to his life.  He was the adored and greatly loved grandfather (Shogun) to Jayden (19), Kinsler (14), Ryan (14), Keegan (8), Harper (6) and Landry (4).  He is also survived by his brother David and his wife Ann, and four sisters, Carolyn (Winky) Stuples, Kimberly Castor, Melanie (Bo) Hickman and Dorthy (Duber) Murray and remarkable nieces and nephews all who loved their uncle dearly.

James' dad was in the U.S. Army and as such, James carried the title of Army Brat with great dignity and pride.  He attended many different schools during his youth and spent his most favored high school years in Munich American High School and ultimately graduating from Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1973.  His nickname in high school was Caveman derived from his demeanor, long hair and hulking look.  James was an avid football fan, in fact playing himself in high school and was a menace on the field.  Players would go out of their way to avoid him.  In spite of his nickname and presence on the football field, he was a friend that all would like to have had.  He was very respectful, kind, helpful and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.  He was very humorous and the life of every gathering.

After high school he entered the U.S. Army and spent time at Fort Sill, Ok and Fort Polk, La.  Upon being honorably discharged, he worked at several arduous jobs and did so with the love of his family at heart.  He worked as a long-haul truck driver for Chevally Moving and Storage, loading and unloading furniture, which he did with a smile and joy.  This was followed by a period of time working on a drilling rig which was hard but rewarding work, vital to our economy.  Leaving the oil fields, he started working with a friend in the concrete finishing business, at which he became quite adept.  When his company opened a branch in the Dallas area, he moved his family from Okla to Flower Mound and began his ultimate career.  After learning the art of installing and finishing all manner of ceramic tile, he eventually branched out on his own and started his own company.  He was highly sought after for his expertise and equally valued for his work ethic and honesty.  After closing his business, he ultimately went on to work for the last 15 years at Home Depot.  Though he lived in Flower Mound, he took a job in Allen, which required a long commute to and from work, but he endured that because of the love he had for his coworkers at that store.  He was employed by Home Depot until his death,

James will always be remembered for the life he lived, filled with family, friend, jobs, humor and sports.
