Helen Rae (Overby) Hutto, of Corinth, Texas, passed away on October 20, 2025, from brain cancer. Helen was born June 17, 1945, in Denton, Texas, the daughter of Raymond E. Overby and Bill and Lillie Bulen. Helen lived in Lake Dallas until she was 19 and then lived in Georgia, Colorado, Japan, and Idaho before returning to Lake Dallas. She lived in Corinth for the last 24 years of her life.

Helen graduated from Lewisville High School in 1963 – before Lake Dallas had a high school, and students were bussed to Lewisville. She attended North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas).

She was always an avid reader. When she was young her mother would drive her to the Denton library to pick out books. She checked out as many books as she was allowed and returned every two weeks to do the same. She never left the house without a book in her bag.

Helen's career was largely in telecommunications. She worked for the Lake Dallas Telephone Company for 18 years. During her tenure, she served on multiple telephone industry related committees such as the Texas Statewide Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (TSTCI), Texas Telephone Association (TTA), and several others. When the telephone company sold, she was hired as the division manager for CenturyTel . The remainder of her career was telecommunications adjacent.

She was active in her community. She served as a Girl Scout leader to include cookie chairman, the Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce as director and president, and the Economic Development Committee for the City of Corinth. She helped organize the Lake Dallas High School Band Booster Club and served as its president in 1986.

As a member of the Lake Cities United Methodist Church for over 45 years, she served the church by volunteering as finance director, organizing fundraisers such as "Super Saturday", craft fairs, planned and hosted the monthly senior citizen lunch, and various other events. She worked for LCUMC as their bookkeeper for several years after her retirement.

Helen enjoyed her career, but her family was everything. She was very active with her children, Reneé and Randy, carpooling to sports, dance, scouts, church, and other activities. She loved to travel and introduced her children to international travel in their teen years… sandy beaches, snowy mountains, road trips, family outings, she was always ready to go on an adventure. She excelled at being "Aunt Helwin" to her nieces and nephews but when she became a "Grammie" to her grandchildren, Randall, and Daisy, she was truly in her element.

Her laugh and smile were infectious. She was funny. She was a great friend to many people. She will be dearly missed.

Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Aimee Reneé and James Simmons; her son, James Randall Hutto, and his children William Randall Hutto and Daisy Rae Hutto-Elizalde; her sister and brother-in-law, Billie Sue and James Eberhart; her sister-in-law, Loris Overby; nieces Carrie Jean Gartman, Magan Rae Bailey, Lillie Gene Overby, Savannah Hill, and nephew Cody Overby; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond E. Overby, Bill and Lillie Bulen, and brother, Tommy Overby.

A celebration of her life is scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 11:00 AM at Lake Cities United Methodist Church. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM.
