Harry "Chuck" Baker's Obituary

Harry Carter Baker, an 88-year-old Flower Mound resident, left us on April 26, 2024, to join his wife in heaven. Harry "Chuck" was born in July 1935 in Williston, South Carolina to Charles M. Baker and Ruby E. Faulkner. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Ruby, and siblings, Mary Whitmire, Charles Michelle Jr., Estelle Ruby, Thomas Nelson, James Aldrich, Julia Alice, and Helen Virginia. He is survived by daughters Karen Roeder Woodward and Kimberly "Kim" Sparkman and son Harry Carter "Mark" Jr. Baker. His grandchildren Todd Roeder, Misty Roeder, William Christian Sparkman, Tyler Morgan Sparkman, and Nishelle Dona Sparkman Moya.

He enlisted into the Marines on October 4, 1955, and later met the love of his life, Sally, whom he married on February 14, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had three children: Karen, Kim, and Mark. They planted roots and lived in Highland and Fountain Valley, California during their early years of marriage.

Following the Marines, Chuck began working for American National Life Insurance as a salesman and later worked his way up the ladder to become Regional Director. He was known throughout the company as "The Terminator". When they saw Chuck walk through the door, they knew he meant business. After four decades of commitment to the company, he finally retired and settled with his wife, Sally in Flower Mound, Texas.

Chuck was the type of guy that never met a stranger. From his military background to his local neighborhood, everyone knew his name, and he was sure to leave a mark anywhere he went. Chuck or "Papa" as many of us call him, loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren (he had many). He loved traveling and seeing the world. One of his favorite destinations was Hawaii, where they traveled frequently. Every Holiday was spent at Chuck and Sally's house. As the years went on and Sally passed some things changed, but one thing that never did was the times he cherished with his family. If you knew Chuck, you knew how much he loved to go to breakfast with his friends and family.

We were heartbroken to see him leave us, but just knowing that he is now rejoicing in heaven with Sally is what gives us peace. Chuck was a member of Round Grove United Church in Lewisville, Texas. He loved being with his church family, as they were always there for each other in times of need. He enjoyed the company and giving back to his community.

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, a celebration of life will be held at Round Grove United Church, followed by a Committal Service at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery to lay this Marine to rest. OORAH!
