Gwendolyn Henrietta Dorety

September 22, 1930 – July 13, 2025

Gwendolyn Henrietta Dorety, lovingly known as Gwen, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 94. Born at home in Flower Mound, Texas, on September 22, 1930, she was the youngest of five children to Granville and Nora Twitty.

Gwen's life was filled with the joy of family, cooking, sewing, square dancing,  camping and competitive softball.  Everyone thought her passion was gardening but that was her means to provide for her family. She married her soulmate and squaredance partner, Dink Dorety, on January 18, 1948, in Gainesville, Texas. Their love story began at age 14 during a playful corn cob fight, a memory they cherished throughout their life together of 69 years.

Gwen is survived by her son, Johnny Ray Dorety and his wife, Terre,  of Grapevine, Texas. She leaves behind a legacy of a beautiful family, including five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and yes one great-great-great-grandchild. She was especially fond of her two nieces Nadine Mckenzie and husband Jimmy of Granbury Tx  and Judy Miller and husband Al of Mineola Tx.  She was preceded in death by Dink, her  son, Terry Don, and her daughter-in-law, Louise.

A celebration of Gwen's vibrant and well-lived life will be held at Solstice Senior Living, 2300  Pool Road , Grapevine Tx on July 23, 2025, at 1:30 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory.  The family would like to give thanks to Solstice Senior Living for their care and community, for the loving caregivers within the facility and for Peaceful  Hope Hospice.
