Gordon W. Domaschk, 78, died peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2024, after a brief but intense battle against leukemia and heart valve failure.

Gordon was born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 27, 1945, to Arthur and Alma (Teinert) Domaschk. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School and graduated from Lamar University in 1963 with a degree in History. In 1967, Gordon joined the Army reserves and completed basic training at Camp Leonard Wood in Missouri although he would never be called to serve.

In the early 1970's Gordon made his way to Austin and began work at Tarrytown Florist and discovered both his passion and soon-to-be profession. He opened Gordon's Landscaping in Austin and dove headfirst into the green industry as a business owner and entrepreneur, serving as President of the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association in 1984-1985. In 1987, Gordon began work for Rosewood Property Company in Dallas. He moved to Hawaii for eighteen months to supervise the landscape installation at the Hotel Hana Maui. Once complete, he returned to Dallas to overseed Rosewood's in-house landscaping division which included landmark properties like The Crescent and The Mansion on Turtle Creek. Rosewood downsized in 1992 and Gordon was given the opportunity to purchase the landscape division and create Turtlecreek Landscape Services.

Two of Gordon's greatest accomplishments arrived during the same time he was establishing himself in the green industry. Daughter Amanda arrived in August of 1986 and daughter Laura arrived in July of 1991. He always wanted the best for both of his girls and worked diligently to provide them with all the love, safety, and support that he could give.

In 1996 Gordon would make an important 'business' decision while hiring a new office manager/bookkeeper for Turtlecreek. This woman would not only take over managing his office but eventually capture his heart and soul. Gordon and Kim married on June 15, 2002, after a prolonged engagement. With best friends and two daughters in tow, they eloped to New Orleans for a perfect wedding weekend. They spent every day together, personally, and professionally, running a business, a home, and a family. Gordon loved to travel to his favorite places - New Orleans, Santa Fe, Minocqua, and the Gulf Beaches where he could indulge in the best crab fingers.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly Domaschk.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years Kimberley 'Kim'; daughter Amanda of Berlin, Germany; daughter and son-in-law Laura & Robert McIntosh of Aledo; and two grandsons Elree McIntosh and Grady McIntosh of Aledo as well as dear cousins and extended family whom he loved gathering together with. Gordon was a mentor to many young men and women and seemed to adopt them into the family on a regular basis, including Puneeth Ganadinni of Orlando, FL, and Catriona McCarthy of Dallas. Gordon considered his Turtlecreek family as his own and was grateful daily for the loyalty and support of Gustavo Gutierrez, Diana Tabora, Rafael Gonzales, and his entire staff.

We would like to thank the doctors and medical staff at Baylor Heart & Vascular Hospital, UTSW William P. Clements Hospital, Baylor Home Health, Dr. Stephen Johnston, Dr. Jeff Austin, Dr. Norma Melamed and Dr. Byron Mitchell.

A celebration will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 1:00pm at Marty B's Place in Bartonville, Texas. An informal barbecue lunch will be followed by a commemoration of Gordon's life through shared memories by family and friends. (Note that the venue has stair only access.)

Gordon's passion for providing beautiful landscapes was contagious and he took pride in watching those landscapes grow and mature. We encourage you to plant a tree in his memory and remember him as you see it change through time and season. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Texas Wendish Heritage Society, your local PBS station or the charity of your choice may be made in his honor.
