Gerald John "Jerry" Studer, age 79, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025 after a courageous 3.5 year battle with esophageal cancer.

Born on April 2, 1946, in Algona, Iowa, Jerry was the 12th of 14 children of Julius Phillip Studer and Wilhemina Henrietta Scheppmann. He grew up in Wesley, Iowa, and graduated from Bishop Garrigan Catholic High School, where he was a three-sport athlete, football, track and basketball, along with playing clarinet in the school band. He continued his education at Fort Dodge College, playing football and bass guitar in a band, and later earned a degree from Mankato Business college in Minnesota.

Jerry built a successful career in the oil and gas industry as General Service Manager for Waterloo Service Co, a Co-op in Waterloo IA, where he served for 16 years. After relocating to Texas, he transitioned into the insurance and financial services sector, serving as Area Manager and Vice President for National Bond and Trust. He also became an independent investment advisor and Certified Financial Planner with Momentum Securities, retiring in 2024.

On July 1, 1989, Jerry married the love of his life, Mary Ann Nicholas, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Their story began in 1986 at a Dale Carnegie course, and their partnership flourished over decades of shared family time, world travel, dancing, hiking and many outdoor adventures.

A lifelong athlete, Jerry was an avid runner, outdoor cyclist, snow skier and competitive country dancer. He won two ACDA national championships and found great joy in dancing with Mary and their many cherished dance friends. He also loved his daily walks in the park with his beloved golden lab, Bella.

Jerry's big smile, loving generous heart, and wonderful hugs will be forever missed by all who loved him. He was a wonderful father, adoring grandfather and loving husband.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Minnie Studer; brothers Stan, Philip, Marvin, Vince, Clete, and Steve; and sisters Rita, Madeline, Carol Elmore, and Virginia Orthel.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann Studer; daughters Sonya Marie Johnson (Dale) and Leah Lynn Studer (Kevin Schrader); six grandchildren: Erik Nelson (Amanda), Lauren Nelson, Kate Nelson, Charlie, Finn, and Louay Studer Schrader, and his three sisters: Margaret, Kay, and Rose Studer.
