Gerald (Jerry) F. Devine

Jerry was received into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, May 1, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family in Lewisville, Texas. He was 89 years of age.

Jerry was born in Rockford, Illinois on March 22, 1937 to Harry and Francis Devine who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard "Dick" Devine.

Jerry was a loving husband, a devout Catholic, an American patriot, and a devoted father and grandfather. Everyone that knew Jerry loved him. Jerry was a natural storyteller who enjoyed making people laugh. He lived eighty-nine wonderful years because of his positive outlook on life and listening to his doctors. He loved life and said that he wanted to live past 100. Jerry often showed his love through acts of service and kindness to others.

His pride and joy was his family: his wife, Kathy; his daughter, DeAnne; his granddaughter, Alexa; and his son-in-law, Rob. He and Kathy were inseparable, and they did everything together. Though they married in 1987, they have known and dated each other for more than fifty years.

Jerry was extremely patriotic. In the 1960s, he proudly served in the Army Reserves for eight years. One of his favorite holidays was the Fourth of July. Jerry served as a volunteer for many years on the Rockford July 4th Committee where they raised money to purchase the fireworks for the city's firework show. You could always identify Jerry's home by the American flag he faithfully displayed.

Jerry was an owner of Showtime Productions, a company that produced Home and Garden, RV, Industrial, and other shows in Rockford. His creativity and technical skills were central to the business.

But Jerry's true passion was cars and auto racing. Jerry spent many years at the Byron Dragway and began his announcing career there. In the 1980s, he was hired to announce Monster Truck competitions nationwide. He announced at some of the largest stadiums in the country including the Astrodome, Pontiac Superdome, Soldier Field, and Madison Square Garden to name a few. A highlight of his career was appearing on NBC with Ahmad Rashad during a nationally-televised monster-truck event. He also appeared on ESPN for other motorsports broadcasts.

Jerry confided in us that he loved announcing so much that he would have done it for free. His daughter and son-in-law had attended numerous events. They witnessed spectators during intermission mimicking some of Jerry's famous lines where he would shout: "Feel the Power," "Get him out of the Truck," or "Holy Cow!"

In 2007, Kathy and Jerry moved from Rockford to Lewisville to be closer to family. Jerry picked up Alexa from school every day, drove her to dance and piano lessons, and watched over her while her parents were at work. He and Kathy attended every recital and concert and were deeply involved grandparents.

Photography was another of Jerry's hobbies and he always had the latest camera. He loved taking pictures of Alexa. She was very shy when she was little, and he would unsuccessfully try to get her to smile. She was very serious, and he would always say: "Someday she is going to be an attorney." Alexa just completed her first year of law school.

Jerry loved the color red. He owned many red cars over the years, wore a signature red sweater, and was easily spotted in his red socks. He also had a lifelong love of animals and shared his homes with many beloved dogs over the years.

Some of his other interests/hobbies included art, computers, and embracing Texas culture. He was a talented painter who created many beautiful oil paintings. His computer skills were extensive. He handled desktop publishing, CAD programming for vendor booth layouts, and marketing materials for Showtime Productions. Even in retirement, he continued designing personalized cards for family and friends. And he absolutely loved Texas especially attending the State Fair every year.

He wrote his autobiography last year and titled it, "It's Showtime - Feel the Power." This was a project that he really enjoyed doing, and we are so glad that we have this treasure.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Devine (Bender); his daughter, DeAnne Wolff (Devine); his granddaughter, Alexa Wolff; and his son-in-law, Robert Wolff.

Visitation: Friday, May 8th from 6:00 PM to 8 PM at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home 740 S. Edmonds Ln. Lewisville, TX. Rosary prayer will be held from 6:00 to 6:30.

Celebration of Life: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 9th, at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.

Burial will take place at a later date at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
