Gary Adrien Germain, 74, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away suddenly at home on July 14, 2025.

Born in Saint-Boniface, Manitoba, Canada, on July 11, 1952, the second youngest of five children of the late Joseph Germain and Marie Sourisseau, Gary was named after his father's favorite movie star (Gary Cooper) and his uncle & godfather, Adrien. In 1954, he immigrated with his family to Covina, California, after one too many cold winters in Manitoba, and became a naturalized US citizen in 1959. He quickly adapted to the California weather, later enthusing of the sunny days spent riding his motorcycle on the scenic highways or excellent skiing to be had at snowy Mammoth Mountain. Gary graduated from Northview High School in 1969, matriculated to California Polytechnic University, Pomona, earning his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology in 1977.

Gary built everything up around him, whether it was homes for work, cars for fun, or family and friends for a stronger community. He was calm, funny, and a strong support for those around him with a desire to enjoy life as much as possible. Always keeping life in balance, Gary spent a lot of time attending, and winning, car shows, practicing deep knee bends prior to ski season, collecting and tinkering with bicycles to perfect them for his various cycling adventures, or teaching us all the finer points of relaxation during camping trips or at home with a recliner and a favorite racing event, show or movie. Later in life, Gary spent time hopping around Texas and the rest of the country to spend time with family and friends and was often swarmed by his grandchildren (and/or grand-dogs) when at home. He leaves a legacy of inspiring his children to have a quiet strength and live life to its fullest extent.

Gary is survived by his siblings, Denise Germain, Irene Germain Johnson (Steve), Edmond "Eddie" Germain, Leo Germain (Eileen), & Laura Germain, and his children, Adam Germain (Thu), Todd Germain (Marilyn), Christopher Yost (Claire), & Heather van der Dys (Richard), his two beloved grandchildren, Dax Germain and Zoë van der Dys, and his nieces & nephews, Larry Boyles, Diane Vegiard, Keith Johnson & Elaine Pocinwong, Ryan Germain, Renee Jackson & Bryce DeGroot.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11am to 1pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 704 S Edmonds, Lewisville, Texas 76067.
