Frank Joseph Brightwell passed from this earth to receive his eternal reward on Friday, August 15, 2025, peacefully in his home at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert H. and Sarah J Brightwell. He is survived by his wife, Margaret and their two daughters Barbara Barford and Janet Bradley; one grandchild, Pierce Bradley and one sister, Ellen Fincham and respective families.

Frank was born in Germany on March 19, 1950. Frank and his sister were adopted by the Brightwell's while stationed in Germany. He became a naturalized citizen on March 6, 1959. He graduated from Long Beach University with a B.A. degree. He worked his way through college as a short order cook with Tiny Naylors in California. Family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1977 and for the next 10 years he worked for Crystal's Pizza and Spaghetti, a 300-seat restaurant. He transferred to Dallas, and the Legend began.

Frank married Margaret Robison, his high school sweetheart, on February 7, 1970. They were married for 55 ½ years until his passing. They built a family and business together. Frank's dream and goal was to own his own restaurant. In 1987 he successfully operated for 15 years, two fast food locations in downtown Dallas in Reunion Tower under the pyramid in the tunnels. In 1989 the Local Diner was born in Carrollton and over the next 38 years he successfully operated up to five locations.

Frank was a faithful Christian. He was a member at Webb Chapel Church of Christ and when they moved to Highland Village became a member at Lewisville Church of Christ. He became a Deacon at Lewisville and spent many days preparing food for different events. His favorite each year was Preacher Training Camp where 100+ meals were prepared for the campers and teachers. He enjoyed seeing the young men grow in Christ. He was also a greeter extraordinaire, helping those who needed assistance and valet parking cars for individuals. He enjoyed the men's visitation team, playing 42 with the men on Monday's and oversaw the Senior Group activities for several years.

Frank had a deep passion for his Chevy SSR, starting the Texas Chapter to share his love of the SSR Truck with others. He met many SSR Fanatics over the U.S. and in Europe. They all became family! One individual from Germany even visited Frank at the Local Diner with his son while on vacation in America. Frank learned all he could to repair the special features of the SSR and would fix yours or teach you how to do it. He wanted to keep them on the road. He could talk for hours about this truck and sometimes did!!  "You just do not know what you are missing if you do not have one!!!" Frank traveled to many international and local rallies and of course hosted an International Rally in Denison, TX in 2017. He assisted with two more rallies after that. He hosted many side trips with friends.  During one trip the SSR's became the center of attention in Yellowstone National Park with visitors taking pictures of the trucks.

Frank's battle with pancreatic cancer began in 2023.  He fought with determination and grace, inspiring everyone who knew him.  He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience.
