Francisco "Quico" Gerardo Nevárez, age 75, of Little Elm (formerly of El Paso, Texas) passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 in Carrollton.

Quico was born January 19, 1948 in Durango, Mexico to Jesús Nevárez and Rafaela Barraza Nevárez. He moved to the United States as a teenager and married María del Refugio "Cuca'' Muñoz on December 30, 1969 in El Paso, Texas. They had children, built a home, and were married for 47 years until her death in 2017. With three of his brothers, he founded a carpentry business in which several family members have been involved. Quico was known to be stubborn, but selfless and fair. He was an active member of the Catholic Church and highly valued family togetherness.

Francisco is survived by his children: Frank Nevárez (m. JoAnn Méndez), Leticia Méndez (m. Ricardo Méndez Jr.), Susie Nevárez (m. Lucas Cortez), and Jerry Nevárez (Sophia Rosillo); grandchildren: Francisco Nevárez, Ricardo Méndez III, Randee Méndez, Crystabella Nevárez, Maeley Nevárez, Ryanna Méndez, and Christian Nevárez; siblings: Irma Hernández, Rafael Nevárez, Jesús "Chuy" Nevárez, María García, Miguel Nevárez, José Ramón Nevárez, and Martha Nevárez; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, two siblings, and a daughter, Herminia Nevárez.
