Frances Jolly Massengale, 86, of Denton, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2024, after a brief illness.

She was born on January 14, 1938, to Reo and Nelle Jolly in Eula, Texas.

Fran attended Eula schools and graduated as Valedictorian in 1955. She received her Business Associate Degree from Brookhaven College in Dallas. Fran remained a lifelong learner who took various college classes into her eighties.

She married James Massengale on October 19, 1957 and they had three children Lorri, Philip, and Liana.

She worked as an executive secretary at Aerosonic in Addison and later became an administrative assistant at West Texas Rehabilitation Center in Abilene, Texas. She remained at the Rehab for twenty-three years and retired in 2010. After her retirement, she moved to Denton to be closer to her family.

She was an avid reader all types of books. She loved to do crossword puzzles and participate in Bible Study Fellowship. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and she was overjoyed to see her family grow. She also enjoyed her annual beach trip with the girls and visiting her sister in Abilene.

Fran is survived by Lorri and her husband Kyle Routh, Philip and his wife Tanya Massengale, and Liana Massengale. She is also survived by her grandchildren Leslie Nixon, Matt and his wife Sara Routh, Abby Massengale, Kelli Routh, Kari and her husband Chase Hampton, Harley Poole, and Gracie Poole. She was a proud great-grandmother to Taylor and Tripp Eskew, Blakely Nixon, Ellie and Claire Routh, and Anabelle and Avery Hampton. She is also survived by her sister Lela and her husband Charles Dick of Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents Reo and Nelle Jolly and her husband James Massengale.

Visitation will be Friday November 1, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas.

Graveside services will be November 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Eula Cemetery.
