In Loving Memory of Forrest and Martha Whitescarver

Forrest Whitescarver passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 90. Born in Lewisburg, Kentucky, he was the second child of Clarence and Ruth (Biven) Whitescarver. From an early age, Forrest was instilled with a drive for excellence, guided by his older brother, Arlo (William).
After high school, Forrest attended the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member of ROTC and the shooting team. His dream was to become a pilot in the Air Force, but his eyesight led him to serve in the Army instead. He dedicated six years to service, balancing weekends and annual training until his eventual retirement from the Army.

While at the University of Cincinnati, Forrest met Martha Runck, the love of his life. Their story began with a whirlwind romance, and on November 9, 1957, they eloped, beginning a beautiful 67-year marriage. The couple first settled in Dayton, Ohio, where they started their family, before moving to Chicago, Illinois, in 1966, where they raised their three children and Forrest pursued a career in architecture.

Forrest had a deep love for Martha, evident in the many heartfelt notes and cards he left behind. He is survived by his wife, Martha, their three children: Michael (Mary) Whitescarver, Douglas (Joyce) Whitescarver, and Eleanor (Trent) Duncan, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arlo.

Martha Whitescarver followed her beloved husband, passing away on January 26, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the third child of Robert and Eleanor (Blue) Runck. After high school, she attended the University of Cincinnati, where she met Forrest and began the love story that would last a lifetime.

Martha embraced her role as a devoted wife and mother, raising their three children while also pursuing her passion for cooking. In the 1980s, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending a cooking school in Paris, France. Throughout her life, she worked a variety of jobs, cherishing her time at Merrilee Clothing Boutiques and The Permission Tree in Geneva, Illinois.

Together, Forrest and Martha found joy in the outdoors, whether cross-country skiing, camping, or engaging in scouting activities with their children. In their later years, they settled in Highland Village, Texas, where they became active members of the community. They were founding members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound, where they engaged in various ministries, including the Shawl Ministry, knitting and crocheting shawls for those in need.

Martha had a deep love for music, which led her to volunteer with the Lewisville Symphony, earning multiple awards for her dedicated service. This passion brought her immense joy in her later years.

Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Forrest, just 40 days before her passing. She is survived by their children: Michael (Mary) Whitescarver, Douglas (Joyce) Whitescarver, and Eleanor (Trent) Duncan, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Together in life and in passing, Forrest and Martha leave behind a legacy of love, family, and community. Their devotion to one another, their children, and their faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know them.

The visitation will be on Friday, March 28th beginning at  5:00 pm
The memorial service will be on Saturday, March 29th beginning at 11:00 am
