Ethel Leone Sheehan nee Scammon, 93, born May 5, 1931, passed into heaven May 24, 2024. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 7, 2024 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Mulkey Mason Funeral home, 740 Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, TX. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 1 pm, in the chapel at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, with Ken Haney, her son-in-law, officiating.

Ethel was the eldest of five children born to Gerald and Mary Scammon nee Clare, at the Claremont Ranch in Silesia, Montana. When she graduated from Edgar High School, she was voted by her peers to be the one most likely to be found on the mission field in the future. She graduated from Northwest Nazarene College with a bachelor's degree and then went to nursing school in Helena, Montana. While there, she met Robert "Bob" Sheehan in February of 1958 and they were married September 6 of the same year. She and Bob started their family of six children in Montana and then moved to Tacoma, Washington because Bob found a good paying job there. Because of their commitment to Christian education, for many years Ethel worked in the Christian school the children attended, to help offset the cost. Eventually, they moved to Lewisville, TX to work at Accelerated Christian Education, also because of their commitment to Christian education. Both Bob and Ethel retired from ACE. Over the years Ethel survived two bouts with cancer. After Bob died, Ethel moved back to Tacoma, where she lived with her daughter Maureen and her husband for almost 10 years. Ethel recently moved to Amarillo, TX, where she lived for two months before succumbing to metastatic breast cancer. Although she did not go to the mission field herself, she taught her family the importance of keeping God primary in their lives.

Ethel was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 50 years, in 2008; both her parents, her brother Samuel Scammon, and her sister Laura Lien. Ethel is survived by one son, David Sheehan of Denton, TX, five daughters, Elizabeth Haney of Amarillo, TX, Maureen Kercher of Tacoma, Washington, Rose Gillespie of Lewisville, TX, Cynthia Cole of Albion, Pennsylvania, and Joanna Schumacher of Arlington, TX; sisters Mary Ann Hagan and Edna Stepper, both of Montana, 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
