Estelle Frank Powell was born on September 10, 1927, in Galveston, Texas, and passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Lewisville, Texas at the age of 97.

Estelle had what she described as a wonderful childhood growing up living near her grand and great grandparents, making childhood memories she long cherished.  As a teen she was proficient on the accordion and performed publicly in addition to marching with a Drum and Bugle Corps.  She renewed her music interests in her retirement years while participating in a Senior Citizen Stage Band as a percussionist.

She married the love of her life, Raymond Powell, on October 5, 1947. They shared 69 wonderful years together before his passing.  She and Ray began their married life together in Amarillo and, once his career path was established, moved to Dallas, Texas to live and begin their family. In 1952 their first child, son, Gary was born. Soon followed Lisa, in 1953, Douglas in 1957 and Carolyn in 1958. As the family grew, a move to the suburbs of Farmers Branch was made in 1957. The Powell family lived and raised their family in that community for the next 30 years. In 1987 Ray and Estelle moved to Denton, Texas to enjoy their retirement years.

Estelle's proudest accomplishments in life were raising her four children and watching their families grow.  A lifelong learner with a deep appreciation for art and culture, in 1983 she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Art History from the University of Texas at Dallas, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.  She later worked in the tax accounting field and completed her career as a Content Mastery teacher for the Farmers Branch School District.Estelle loved to travel and explored much of the world throughout her life. She and Ray visited all 50 states, as well as destinations across Europe, and New Zealand. Whether camping, boating, enjoying nature or touring, Estelle embraced each adventure with curiosity, enthusiasm and joy.

Her favorite pastimes were expressing her creativity through quilting, needlepoint and coloring. She was a voracious reader, reading the newspaper daily until the end of her life and solving the daily crossword puzzles.  She enjoyed listening to all types of music and cheering for her favorite sports team, the Texas Rangers.

A woman of deep faith, Estelle was a long-time member of St. Francis Episcopal Church-Dallas, St. Andrew's Episcopal-Farmers Branch, and St.. David's Episcopal Church - Denton, where she served faithfully for many years in various capacities including Sunday School teacher, Vestry and Altar Guild.

She is survived by her children: son Gary and wife Debbie, daughter Lisa and husband Roy Rabenaldt, son Doug and wife Arlene, and son-in-law James Germany. Estelle was also blessed with 9 grandchildren—Chris and wife Alicia, Matt, Karen, Elaina, Logan, Aaron and wife Ashley, Brent and wife Madison, Caitlin and husband Sam, Andrew—and 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who carry fond memories of their Aunt Estelle.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond Powell, her daughter Carolyn Germany, her parents Victor and Ophelia Frank, and her sister Marilyn Frank Baker.

Estelle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and wonderful sense of humor touched many.  Her life was one of devotion, curiosity, compassion, and faith. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she enriched.

Memorial services and interment will be Saturday, July 19 at 2:00 p.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church, 623 Ector Street, Denton, TX
