Elsa McFarland, 82, of Highland Village, made her final transition peacefully the morning of 12/09/2024 at her home in Highland Village, succumbing to a long battle with cancer.  "Miss Elsa" was born in Rockland ME to Uno and Helen Ilvonen on June 1, 1942.  She graduated with her bachelor's degree from the University of Maine in 1964 where she majored in education.  She was a member of student government of Maine Women and a member of Pi Beta Phi. She moved to Texas from Maine late 2017 to live with her daughter and son in law.  While living in Texas, Elsa enjoyed international travel, watching the Mavericks and Cowboy games, going to the Ranger games, reading spy books and autobiographies, doing puzzles buying scratch off cards and a good cup of coffee.

Miss Elsa was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and friends. She touched the lives of so many people, showing us an example of a resilient figure in the face of adversity.

She valued loyalty, truth, and authenticity. To know Miss Elsa is to have laughed with or to have shared a kind word, whether family, a close friend or stranger. Being humbly social and insightful was a special gift Elsa possessed with a razor-sharp wit; those around her were drawn to her infectious and distinctive personality.

Elsa is preceded in death by her father Uno Ilvonen, mother Helen Ilvonen, brother Carl Ilvonen, brother Kenneth Ilvonen, bother Richard (Dick) Ilvonen, brother Uno Ilvonen sister Barbra Linquest, sister Mary Orne, and husband Richard (Dick) McFarland.

Elsa is survived by her children; son Princeton McFarland, daughter in law Lara McFarland, daughter Kristina Kincaid, son in law Bryan Kincaid, granddaughters Allison Hayes, Kaylee McFarland, Aylin McFarland, grandson Austin Hayes, and great grandson Kyran Castaldo.

The family of Miss Elsa wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr Cowey, Dr McCullum, Dr Holmes, and all the staff at Texas Oncology, all the drivers at GoZone (DCTA), and the staff at Sip and Stir.  Also, thank you Merit Hospice for making it possible for her to transition in her own home.  Although we mourn the physical loss; we take comfort knowing her now free and joyful spirit will always be with us.
