Elouise Loraine Kirklen, of Northlake, Texas, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Elouise was born in Dimmit, Texas, to Richard Greathouse and Bertha Dowell Greathouse on August 4,1931. She was the third-born of four children, including her brother, Earl, and her sisters, Morleen and Fayrene. Her childhood hobbies were reading, playing softball, basketball, and volleyball.

Mrs. Kirklen graduated from Dimmitt High School. She attended Hardin Simmons University and Wayland Baptist College, where she excelled as a member of the Flying Queens women's basketball team. Her team was inducted into Naismith Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. The highlight of her years in the college choir was singing in Handel's Messiah.

She was a CLU, a chartered life underwriter, for Travelers lnsurance Company and then for United Fidelity Life Insurance Company until her retirement in 1995. After retirement, she volunteered as a copy room mom at Lamar Middle School and then volunteered for several years at the Lewisville Public Library. She was a member of the Resume Book Club, and she was an avid bridge player for most of her adult life, she also enjoyed gardening, reading, walking/hiking, and being out in nature.

Elouise loved God, her church, her family, and her friends. She became a Christian and was baptized at the age of eight. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewisville, which she attended for more than 30 years. One of her gifts was evangelism, and she would often ask people she would meet, "Do you go to church?" as a way to begin a conversation about God.

Mrs. Kirklen is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Joe Kirklen, and her daughter, Donna Kirklen. She is survived by her son, Thomas Alan Kirklen, daughter-in-law, Tammy Kirklen, daughters, Janet Lee Kirklen, and, Rebecca Loraine Wilson, son-in-law, David Wilson. Grandchildren, Candace Hoback, Malinda Wilson, Kyle Kirklen, and Taylor Kirklen. Great-grandchildren, Braden Wilson, Tait Funk, Camden Hoback, and Cyrus Kirklen.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Flower Mound Cemetery in Flower Mound, Tx. with Pastor Rich Mussler officiating. A burial will follow at Flower Mound Cemetery. Arrangements are made with Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, Lewisville, Tx.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Lewisville or to the American Cancer Society.
