Deborah passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, after a brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family, who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Born on February 13, 1958, in Gainesville, Texas, Deborah Jane Scott came into the world as a beacon of warmth and kindness. She was the beloved daughter of Nannetta and Hulen Scott, who predeceased her.

Deborah's life was a testament to her boundless love and powerful spirit. She was the proud and devoted mother of her three daughters, Heather, Kristen, and Madison Peters. As their guiding light, Deborah celebrated each of their accomplishments and supported them unconditionally. Her love extended even further to her precious grandchildren, Halee, Hannah, and Harlie Hicks, who knew her as their beloved "Mimi."

Deborah also survived by her brother, Derwood Scott, sister-in-law Stephanie Scott, and her treasured nieces, Amanda Scott and Rebecca Scott Bullock.

Deborah had an unparalleled ability to make everyone feel like family, earning her the affectionate title of "Mimi" not just from her grandchildren, but from all who came into her life. Her home was always open, filled with love, laughter, and countless grand animals that she often joked she loved even more than her human children.

For 17 years, "Deb" worked at Winstar Casino, where she forged deep connections with her colleagues, considering them her extended family. Her colleagues remember her infectious smile and unwavering generosity, always greeting everyone as a friend.

Deborah's passions were as vibrant as her personality. A fervent football fan, she never missed the thrill of her children's or grandchildren's Friday Night Lights games, cheering them on with unmatched enthusiasm. Traveling was another joy for Deborah, as she delighted in exploring new places and creating unforgettable memories with her family.

Those who knew Deborah will remember her as a woman who never met a stranger. Her heart was open to all, and she embraced everyone she encountered as part of her family. Her legacy of love, kindness, and acceptance will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In accordance with the family's wishes, a private cremation will take place with no formal funeral. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, they kindly ask for donations to be made to the Linda McNair Animal Care and Adoption Center in Denton or your local animal shelter, a cause dear to Deborah's heart.
