David Albert Schoppaul, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Highland Village on January 4, 2025.  David was born on November 15, 1948 to Nina and Albert Schoppaul in Denton, Texas.

David was the younger of two boys. His brother, Dwight, passed away as young child, which had a significant influence on his life.  David grew up spending his childhood in Denton and Argyle, Texas.  He graduated from Denton High School in 1967.  David met his cherished wife, Mary, on their first day of college at Dallas Baptist University and married a year later.  He had a long, successful career as a residential home builder, with many custom-built homes in the Argyle and Highland Village areas.

David was a passionate, outspoken disciple of Christ.  He was eager to meet Jesus and reunite with his parents and brother in heaven.  He took tremendous pride in his prized wife, Mary, three daughters Michelle, LeAnn and Kristi, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who loved nothing more than relaxing with his wife, on the porch of his cabin in Oklahoma, drinking a cup of coffee and keeping a close eye on the deer tracks.  He spent many hours grooming his land so that one day he could teach his grandkids how to hunt.
David is survived by his wife, Mary, daughters Michelle Crinklaw, LeAnn Briggs and Kristi Luse, his son-in-laws Brent Crinklaw, Jeff Briggs and Jason Luse, his grandchildren Brayden Crinklaw, Allie Crinklaw, Cade Crinklaw, Karlee Crinklaw, Blaklee Briggs, Skylar Luse, Noah Luse and Emi Jae Luse, his great granddaughter Bentlee Briggs, his dog Charlie, and his best friend, Wrangler the Dog.

David was preceded in death by his father Albert, mother Nina and brother Dwight.

Services will be held at the small Village Church building (1700 Highland Village Road, Highland Village) on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11:00 am.  Visitation will be held on the same day, at the same location, starting an hour before the service at 10:00.  Interment will follow the service at IOOF Cemetery in Denton, TX.
