It is with great sorrow and abiding faith in our Lord that we announce the passing of Daria Renee DeVaughn, who was called home on July 20, 2025, at the age of 73.

Daria was born on May 28, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, to Albert and Amanda Andrews, who raised her and her siblings in deep Christian faith, teaching them to live with love, kindness, and compassion. Though small in stature, Daria's inner light radiated brightly, touching the lives of everyone she met.

She graduated from John H. Patterson Cooperative High School in 1970 and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Wright State University in Dayton, OH. In 1974, while working a summer custodial job, Daria met Waymon DeVaughn. Their bond began with friendship, filled with practical advice—like her early suggestion, "Buy a loaf of bread and a package of bologna and bring sandwiches for lunch. Buying lunch every day doesn't make sense!" That friendship blossomed into a deep love, and the two married in 1978. Together, they shared a life rich in love, laughter, coordinated outfits, and countless treasured memories.

Daria often said her favorite hobby was "shopping"—but not just any shopping. She delighted in the hunt for bargains and believed that the bigger the discount, the bigger the thrill. Her joy in life extended to every corner of her being: from her family and friendships to her community and church.

Her faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. She lived each day with grace, humility, and a heart full of love. A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Daria was always thinking of others—radiating a quiet strength that uplifted those around her.

Daria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Waymon DeVaughn, her parents Albert and Amanda Andrews, her brother George Andrews, and her sister Mildred Jean Tuggle. She is survived by her cherished children Danielle DeVaughn, Donte DeVaughn and daughter-in-law Meggan DeVaughn, her sisters Yvonne Thornton and Karen Ross, her brothers-in-law Ernest Thornton and Stephen Ross and Sanford Whitlow and sister-in-law Stephanie Whitlow, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will live on through all who had the blessing of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 2 at New Beginnings Church in Lewisville, Texas. All who were touched by Daria's warmth and light are invited to attend.
