It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Congettina "Connie" Mary Pompei on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

Connie was born on March 5, 1936, to Frank & Natalie Interrante in Newark, New Jersey.  In 1953 she graduated from Central High School and was known for being "slim and tall, a smile for all".  She and a friend went down to the Jersey Shore for Labor Day Weekend and found themselves at the Chatterbox Bar where she met her husband, Ronald Pompei.  They shared a long-distance romance while Ron was in the Army and married on October 19, 1957.  They built a life together and had 3 children, Ronald Jr., Jan Marie, and Marcie Rumsey.  They moved to Sleepy Hollow, New York when Ron was offered a job at General Motors and Connie worked at Phelps Memorial Hospital as a unit secretary in the ICU.  She was later asked to be an office manager for Dr. Sandy Rosner, a neurosurgeon she met while working at Phelps.  She was blessed with 4 grandsons, Matthew Pompei, Michael Pompei, Jake Rumsey, and Scott Rumsey, which she spoiled every chance she got.

Connie and Ron later decided to "retire" to Flower Mound, Texas in 2005 and enjoy the warmer weather.  Their home was always open to neighbors and friends and Connie would show her love to others through feeding them her homemade meatballs and baked ziti.  It brought Connie great joy to cheer on her grandsons at their basketball, football, and orchestra events.  She was active at St. Philips the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed weekly lunches at the Flower Mound Senior Center with friends she and Ron made.  She always spoke of how blessed she was that God had given her so much and was most grateful for her family.  Connie never met a stranger and was well loved by so many in the communities she lived in.

Having celebrated 87 years of life, Connie joins our Lord to walk in peace.  Known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great friend, she leaves behind a legacy of treasured memories for all that knew her.  We mourn with hope because we know she is with our Heavenly Father and that we will see her again one day.
