Cheryl Elizabeth (Baker) Garcia went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at her home in Lewisville, Texas.

Born March 18,1946 at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas, to Nahum Knapp Baker and Joseph Wakefield Baker, Cheryl spent all of her life in her beloved Texas.  Her early childhood was spent in Farmers Branch and she had fond memories of summers at the Knapp family Homestead in Aubrey, Texas.  After graduating from RL Turner High School in 1964, she spent the early years of her career in retail and then pursued a career in accounting for sixteen years at Baylor Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Upon retiring from Baylor Medical Center, Cheryl returned to Lewisville where she helped care for her mother.

Cheryl's love of Texas and Country music followed her from Farmers Branch to Houston, and home to Lewisville.  She loved George Strait and was an avid dancer.  She appreciated the honesty of the western lifestyle.

Cheryl took pride in a spotless yard, with a green thumb that was unmatched.  Holiday decorating and "yard toys" were a personal mission for her.  Christmas in particular, was a favorite of Cheryl's.  Everyone in the family has a handmade Christmas ornament or decoration that was masterfully crafted by Aunt Cheryl, as she was affectionately known by her family and close friends.

Though slight in frame, Cheryl had a vivacious personality known by all.  She could always be counted on to decorate in style and break the room into laughter, and if there was a problem to be solved somewhere – believe that Aunt Cheryl would solve it.

Aunt Cheryl's family was the highlight of her life.  She is survived by her sister Carole Baker Bassinger; niece, Jennifer Grimes and husband Deacon Grimes; nephew, H Bassinger and wife, Bettina Bassinger; great nieces and nephews, Bryson Bassinger, Tyler Grimes, Soren Bertelsen, Emma Bassinger, Wyatt Bassinger and Skylar Bassinger; long time best friend Judy Steele and husband Ricky Steele.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Good Hope Cemetery in Prosper.

She will be greatly missed and family holiday gatherings will not be the same without her.
