Charles Lee Standifer, age 87, of Corinth, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024. He was born on January 15, 1937, in Sanger, Texas, to Marvin and Doris Standifer. Charles lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love.

Charles graduated from Krum High School in 1955. He answered the call to serve his country by joining the Army in October 1957. As a member of the 101st Airborne Division, Charles became an Army Ranger, demonstrating exceptional bravery and skill. In 1959, he was awarded Soldier of the Month twice by General Westmoreland, a testament to his outstanding performance and dedication. He was also a member of the United States Army Golden Knights parachute team.

After his active duty service, Charles played a crucial role in operating Nike missiles at the missile base in Denton, Texas. Following the base's closure, he continued his career as an avionics technician for the Army National Guard. In 1990, Charles was deployed with the 6th Air Mobile Cavalry to Saudi Arabia, where he served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His unwavering commitment to his country was evident throughout his 37 and a half years of military service.

Beyond his military career, Charles was known for his dedicated love of family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Wilma Inez; his parents, Marvin and Doris Standifer; and his siblings Milton R. Standifer, Edwin D. "Red" Standifer, Jackie L. Standifer, and Reba J. Gant. He is survived by his sister Beatrice Keene; his three sons, Charles Alan Standifer, Gregory Ray Standifer (wife Miranda), and Darren Scott Standifer (wife Cathy); and his daughter Sharon Kay Pierce (husband Clay). He was "Papa" to eight grandchildren: Hunter Standifer, Hailey Beggs, Cody Pierce, Cayce Standifer, Allison Standifer, Kelsey Pierce, McKenna Standifer, and Raegan Standifer, as well as nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family and country will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Charles Lee Standifer's life was a testament to hard work, honesty, commitment, and the strength of the human spirit. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on August 10, 2024 at 10 am followed by a service at 11:00 am Mulkey - Mason Funeral Home 740 South Edmonds Lane in Lewisville, TX
