Charles Knappenberger, of Highland Village, Tx, passed away on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at the age of 92. Charles was born to parents Keith Fred Knappenberger and Darlene Rudell Knappenberger on February 11, 1931 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Charles lived the first 10 years of his life in Blandinsville, Illinois and then the family moved to Longview, Texas. In 1947 the family moved again to Texas City, Tx where he attended Texas City High School in 1949. While living in Texas City, Charles met the love of his life, Doris June Cluck. They
married in 1950 and were together for 59 years. Charles enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and was trained to be a control tower operator. Upon being honorably discharged from the military, Charles was a brick mason and superintendent for a construction company in Houston, Tx for many years. In 1979, he and Doris moved to Double Oak, Tx where he was a realtor before becoming a custom home builder which he loved. Charles also had a great passion for antique Jaguars and had several restored. He was a member of the Dallas and Austin Jaguar Clubs, and a member of the National Association of Home Builders.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Keith Fred Knappenberger and mother, Darlene Rudell Knappenberger; wife, Doris June Cluck Knappenberger and sister, Elizabeth Coudry. He is survived by son, Mark Knappenberger; brother, Richard Knappenberger; grandchildren, Allen Knappenberger and wife Amanda Knappenberger, Michelle Knappenberger and Mistry Powaga; great grandson, Shawn Knappenberger; niece, Brenda Maenza and great niece, Marisa Tucker and husband Chris Tucker. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Friday, September 8th, 2023 at Flower Mound United Methodist Church in Flower Mound, Tx. Interment will follow on Saturday, September 9th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron, TX.
