Charles Bowen passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.  His passing came 8 days after his wife, Sara Bowen, passed away.

Charles Bowen was born in Masontown, Pennsylvania to George and Madeline (Cole) Bowen on April 5, 1947.  Charles is survived by his daughter, Barbara Cross and grandchildren, Kyle Cross, and Nicholas Cross.  His two stepdaughters Katherine Johnston and Teresa Rose; step son-in-law, Tim Johnson, and his step-grandchildren, Burton Johnston, Aubrey Johnston, Mackenzie Rose Forbes, and Paris Rose.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Madeline Bowen, brothers George Jr., James "Docky", John and sisters Ellen Farrier and Charlotte Sellers.

Charles knew from an early age that he was happiest when he was working with his hands.  He started working and doing chores for his local neighbors to earn money.  He graduated from German Township High School.  After graduation, Charles joined the United States Army.

In the US Army, Charles was a Payroll Clerk and was stationed in Vietnam.  His years in Vietnam were formative and helped prepare him for his career after the military.  Charles met his first wife Barbara Faye Bowen at DFW Airport in 1967 while on a layover returning to the military.  Charles completed his commitment in the Army in August of 1969 and returned to Dallas, Texas where he would marry Barbara Faye.  They had a daughter, Barbara Jeorgene Cross, their only child.

Charles began a career in the defense department at Texas Instruments (TI).  He worked on the Harm Missile and top-secret defense projects while with TI.  After working at many different plants in the DFW area he would move to the plant in Lewisville, Texas.  TI would sell the Lewisville Plant to Raytheon where Charles would work for the rest of his career until he retired.

In 1983 while at a work event in Denton, Texas, Charles would meet his future wife, Sara Kay Fomby.  They would marry in October 1984.  Sarah was his soul mate, and they built a wonderful life together in Hickory Creek, Texas and in Anson, Texas.

Charles loved working on computers, reading and spending time with his wife and family.  He was an incredible father and grandfather.  He will be dearly missed.

Services will be held at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas on Saturday, September 30, 2023.  Viewing will begin at 10:00 am followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 am.
