Billy Vernon Parr (Uncle Bill), 82, of Gainesville, Texas passed away on November 19, 2024, after a long battle with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Uncle Bill was born in Mallard, Texas to Homer Lee and Maude Averill Parr on November 7, 1942. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jo Dennis and brother-in-law Jack Dennis; nieces, Jackie Works and Jan Gray.

Uncle Bill grew up in Montague County but lived most of his life in both Lewisville and Gainesville, Texas. He attended Lewisville High School and in 1962 he joined the United States Navy where he served for 5 years. Two of which were spent in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Ranger. After returning home, he worked for Delta and OK Corral where he was a manager.

Uncle Bill is survived by his niece, Jody (Terry), nephew, Tim Works; great nieces and great nephews, Tammie (Mike), Chuck, J.J. (Richard), Cammie (Oreo), Alan, Keith, Angie (Troy), Deidra (Vanessa), Cody (Toni) and many great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.  He loved long cigarette breaks and talking about old times with friends and family, watching True Crime dramas and hanging out at the local airport with his Husky, Rocky.

A funeral service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 am.
