Betty Speer, 85, of Greenville, passed away on June 1, 2023 in Lewisville, Texas.  Betty was born in Durant, Oklahoma to Frank and Arlena Torode on July 23, 1937.  She married Vernon Speer on June 6, 1953 in Durant, Oklahoma and shared a life with him for nearly 69 years until his death in 2022.  She was a dedicated homemaker and mother to their daughter Pam.

Betty spent many years working seasonally at Mary of Puddin' Hill and also caring for sweet babies at Wesley United Methodist Church as part of their Mother's Day Out program.  She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she loved to cook.  Her pies and cobblers were famous among friends and family.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her son ,Michael Speer and son-in-law, Benny Henager.  She leaves behind her loving daughter, Pam Henager, granddaughters Crystal Tirado (Antonio) and Nikki Tsakonas (Jason) and great-grandchildren Phoebe Neel, Benjamin Tsakonas and Myles Tirado as well as several nieces and nephews.
