Betty Jo Stockton Lowery, 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 22, 1927 in Lawrence County, Missouri, Betty grew up on a farm during the Great Depression. The daughter of Ira James Stockton and Edith Turner Stockton, she was the fourth child in a family that included three sisters and three brothers.

Betty graduated from nearby Monett High School in 1945 with secretarial school certification. Over the years Betty applied her superior skills in a variety of settings: county government, title company, elementary school secretary, executive secretary to a regional 4H program director.

While working in Missouri, a friend invited Betty to join her in Ft. Worth, Texas for the adventure of living and working in a new place. At a party there, Betty met the love of her life, Ray Lowery. Ray and Betty married in October 1954; they were married 68 years.

Betty spent most of her career as a full-time homemaker and mother of three. She created a beautiful home and supported Ray and her children. A woman of faith, she actively attended the Baptist church throughout her life, most recently the First Baptist Church of Lewisville.

Betty savored the joys of home: being with family, reading, watching tv, and working crossword puzzles. She liked to shop and kept current with the latest home and fashion trends.

In addition to her parents and most of her siblings, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Ray and by her daughter, Susan Elaine Lowery Mace. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Carl Rex Stockton (Gillian); her children, Lisa Lowery Green and James Ray Lowery (Carla); her three grandchildren, Travis Ray Lowery (Corinne), Rebekah Lowery Bridges (Zach), and Hannah Green Bridgforth (William); and her great-granddaughter, Anne Gerard Bridgforth.

Betty will be remembered for her steady cheerfulness and independence, her love for her family, and her youthful beauty.

Betty's celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, TX 75067. Visitation with friends and family will begin at 1:00 pm Monday, February 9 until the time of the service. She will join her husband in burial at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 10, at 11:00 am.
