Bettie Rae 'McDaniel' Elbert, age 86, passed away peacefully December 18, 2023, at her home in Lewisville, Texas.

She was born May 24, 1937, in Hebron, Texas on the family farm, to the late Ernest Ray and Annie Elizabeth "Bettie" McDaniel. The family relocated to Old Town Lewisville in 1954, where Bettie would spend the latter years of her life. She was a graduating member of the 1955 class at Lewisville High School.

Upon graduation she met the love of her life, Billy Jack Elbert. They were married August 31, 1956 and settled in Lewisville, Texas. Bettie worked for the Denton County Tax Office for several years, then moved on to Texas Instruments/Raytheon where she would retire. After her retirement, she worked a short time for American Airlines. After finally retiring, she settled in at her home where she enjoyed crocheting, watching westerns, Nascar Races and football; and reading books by her favorite authors.

Bettie was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Billy Jack Elbert; her parents; sons-in-law, Micheal Nations and Edgar Hayse; granddaughters Jamie 'Hayse' Hearne and Laci Minor.

She is survived by her daughters: Teresa Hayse of Lewisville, Texas; Janice Nations of Flower Mound, Texas; Linda and Jeremy Creed of Nolanville, Texas; her son Billy Jack Jr and Donna of Longview, Texas; six  grandchildren: Chris Hearne of Alvarado, Texas; John Minor (Amilya) of Longview, Texas; Kristen Pannell (Cody) of The Colony, Texas; Ashley Lintner (Scott) of Flower Mound, Texas; Michael Nations (Abigail) of Fort Worth, Texas; Justin Creed (Emily) of Georgetown, Texas; and Taylor Creed of Nolanville, Texas; fourteen great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from 6 to 8 PM at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 10 AM at Swisher Cemetery in Lake Dallas, Texas. The final resting place will be in Swisher Cemetery next to her husband in Lake Dallas, Texas.
