Bernadette Marie Wilson, of Lewisville, Texas passed away peacefully with daughter, Peggy by her side on January 6, 2026. Bernadette was born on July 25, 1929 in rural Vinton, Iowa to Marie and Albert Smith. She attended grade school in a rural, one room school house, and graduated from Vinton High School.

She married Kenneth Frank Wilson on August 10, 1951 in Vinton, IA. Their honeymoon was spent traveling to the state of Washington where Kenneth would board ship to go to the Korean Conflict for two years. Bernadette worked as a secretary and bank teller. In November 1954 daughter Susan was born,  December 1957 daughter Peggy was born.  In 1969 the family moved from Iowa to Arizona.  She lived in Mesa, Fountain Hills and Fountain of the Sun.  In 2023 she moved to Texas to be closer to family.  She attended church regularly.  She was very creative and lived a life of service. In her retirement she knit and crocheted many lap blankets that were donated to hospital patients, including transcribing documents into braile.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents, older brother Richard Smith, younger sister, Phyllis Tilson, and husband Kenneth.  Bernadette is survived by her sister Ramona Hanson, daughters Susan(Arch) and Peggy(Tim), granddaughters Rachael Way(Brent) and Kristen Zamarra(Justin) and great grandsons Jason and Joshua Zamarra and great granddaughter Kehlani Harris.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 1pm, Saturday, February 21, 2026 at First Christian Church United, 2565 MacArthur Blvd. Lewisville, TX.  It will be broadcast and available by internet on the First Christian Church United website.  https://fccunited.org/services/

Burial will follow at The National Cemetery 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd Phoenix, AZ on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 2:30pm.

Memorials may be given to COTA (Childrens Organ Transplant Organization) https://cota.org/cotaforteamjason/ for Bernadette's great grandson Jason.
