Barry Paul Epps, 84, a longtime resident of Lake Dallas, Texas, passed away at home on February 11,2025, after an illness.

Barry was born on November 30, 1940, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the firstborn of Paul and Josephine Epps.As the son of a preacher, song leader, and music teacher, he moved frequently during his childhood, growing up in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. He attended four different high schools before graduating from Lockney High School in Lockney, Texas, in 1959 Barry continued his education at Lubbock Christian College, then completed his studies at Abilene Christian University, earning a business degree with a minor in music.

Following graduation,Barry was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Initially trained in the Signal Corps, his passion for music led him to join the Army Band, He was honorably discharged in March 1966.

Shortly after, Barry married the love of his life, Glenda Gay Minchew of Dimmitt, Texas, on June 30, 1966. Throughout their 58 years of marriage, Barry's love for music was ever-present. He formed quartets wherever they lived, with his final group, The Gentlemen Four, performing together for 16 years. Barry arranged their harmonies, bringing joy to many through his music.

Barry also had a love for tennis, playing for years until experiencing heat exhaustion. He enjoyed teaching the game to his brother Roger and his sons, Lance and Todd, passing on his passion for the sport.

His professional career began with Montgomery Ward, where he worked as a buyer for 11 years in Fort Worth, Mesquite, and Houston. In 1978, Barry and Glenda moved back to the Dallas area, where he took a position as a buyer with United Stationers for seven years. When faced with relocating to Chicago, Barry decided to pursue a new path in sales. After working for several companies,he realized his true calling----entrepreneurship. In 1988, he founded B&G Chemical Sales, where he took great pride in serving his customers, always striving to meet their needs. He continued working until his illness prevented him from doing so.

Barry's greatest goal in life was to reach heaven. He wrote the lyrics and harmony for I Want to See Heaven and collaborated with his father on numerous songs. His faith guided him throughout his life.

Barry is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Epps; his sons, John Lance Epps and Jeffery Todd Epps (wife, Teresa Epps); and his four cherished grandchildren, Justyn Epps, Jaxson Epps, Joshua Epps, and Colin Epps.

A memorial service will be held on February 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, located at 740 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas 75067.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Christ's Haven for Children in Keller, Texas, or Wounded Warriors in honor of Barry's memory.

Barry's life was defined by faith, family, music, and dedication to those he loved. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew him.
