Artis Lynn Perkins Myer, a cherished wife, loving mother, and dedicated nurse, passed away peacefully at her home in Corinth, Texas on December 17, 2023. She was 86 years old. Her devoted husband, Arthur, was by her side, providing care and love until her last moment.

Born on June 23, 1937, in Coryell County, Texas to William Edmond Perkins and Bessie Elizabeth Seay Perkins, Artis was the ninth of ten children. She grew up on a farm just outside the small central Texas town of Pidcoke and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1955. Following in the footsteps of her sisters, she became a Registered Nurse, graduating from Scott & White School of Nursing in Temple, Texas in 1958.

Artis met her future husband, Arthur, at a mutual friends' wedding in Fredericksburg, Texas. After a six-month letter-writing courtship, they married on May 21, 1960, in Lawrence, Kansas. Their journey took them to Pueblo, Colorado, before settling back in Texas, where they raised their three sons, Kerry, Keith and Kevin, in Carrollton. In 1997, they moved to Corinth, Texas to enjoy their retirement years.

Over a career spanning 42 years, Artis touched countless lives with her nursing skills. Known for her expertise in starting difficult IVs, her dedication, compassion, and proficiency were widely recognized and respected by both colleagues and patients.

As a devout follower of Christ and a long-time member of the Baptist Church, Artis embodied the virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman. Her unwavering faith was evident in her everyday life, reflected in her love, patience, kindness, and gentleness towards everyone she met. Her hobbies included tending to her rose bushes, flower gardening, knitting, sewing, and baking.

A visitation in memory of Artis will take place on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 2501 Northshore Boulevard in Flower Mound, Texas. This will be followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. All are welcome to stay for lunch provided by their church family. A final farewell for the immediate family will be held at 2 p.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

Artis is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include her beloved husband of 63 years, Arthur Dean Myer; sons, Kerry Alan Myer and wife, Lynda, Randall Keith Myer and wife, Alice, and Kevin Duane Myer and wife, Elaine; sister Anna Kylene Madison, twelve grandchildren: Sara Barrett, Lily Kernan, Rebecca Mechler, Kalan Myer, Jennifer Grigorean, Kyle Myer, Ashley Parsons, Jeremiah Myer, Jessyca Myer, Cade Myer, Brennan Myer, and Grayson Myer.  In addition, prior to her passing, Artis was blessed with ten great grandchildren:  Jael, Chantry, Eleanor, Killion, Molly, Benley, Jubilee, Bear, Yahley, and Trouper.
