At 98 ½ years young, Ambrose Frank Mantegani, of Lewisville, Texas, was called home on December 28th, 2024.

"Amby" was born on April 19th, 1926 to Fortunato and Lucia Mantegani in Sausalito, California. During high school, Amby started working at Thorsen Tool Company. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1944 and served for 2 years in Germany as an airplane mechanic during WWII.

After completing his time with the Army, he returned to Thorsen Tool Company and worked his way up to the role of Plant Manager. Through the local Italian American club, he met and eventually married the love of his life, Vincenza (Jensie), in 1950. Together, they had three children: Mike, Geralyn, and Steven. (Some would say his 4th child was his boat, Geralyn II.) In 1972, Thorsen Tool relocated to Dallas, TX. Amby was an integral part of the management team that facilitated the move, and the Mantegani family relocated to the Lonestar State.

After dedicating almost 40 years to Thorsen, Amby was forced into early retirement when the owners sold the company. After a short stint as a stay home retiree, (and driving Jensie crazy), he accepted a position with Taylor Publishing in Dallas to stay busy.

The garden was one of Amby's favorite places to be. The family enjoyed the abundance of fruits, vegetables, and fresh basil for homemade pesto. He kept Jensie's rose garden lush and beautiful year-round too! Traveling with family and friends created countless cherished memories. Trips to Ski Haven Resort on Clear Lake, Los Angeles, Lake Tahoe, and South Padre Island were family favorites.

Amby was always up for a game! Whether it was bowling, Canasta, puzzles, poker, or a game of dominoes, he was always up for a challenge and an opportunity to stick his tongue out at you.

Being somewhat of a jokester, Ambrose seldom passed up an opportunity to tell a joke or a funny story. And if you did not live close enough to hear them in person, rest assured he would be sending them to you by mail!

In 1999, after a courageous 4.5-year battle with kidney cancer, Jensie left us. During that time, Ambrose never left her side as her primary caregiver and devoted husband. His love for Jensie remained steadfast until his final breath. While we will miss Amby, we find comfort in knowing they are finally reunited in heaven.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Shelia) Mantegani, daughter, Geralyn (Bobby) Hoskins; grandchildren Kristi (Ken) Marks, Tiffany McCann, Jennifer (Fernando) Valiente, Anthony (Lindsey) Mantegani; and great grandchildren Brennan, Kelson, Stevie Joy, and Ambrose.

He is preceded in death by his wife Vincenza, son Michael, and sister Judith Cabral.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Mulkey-Mason Funereal Home in Lewisville. A service to celebrate the life of Amgrose will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow Monday, January 6, 2025, at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas with military honors.
