Fred Allyn Harrison, a long-time resident of Lewisville, Texas, was taken by natural causes on July 4, 2026, at the age of 82. Allyn, the second youngest of four children, was born on May 23, 1944, in Memphis, Texas.

He attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1967. He remained an avid fan of Texas Tech sports and always wore Red and Black in support of his Red Raiders. On August 28,1965, Allyn married his high school sweetheart, Helen Marie Howard in Memphis. After living in Lubbock, Texas and St. Paul, Minnesota, Allyn and Helen returned to Texas in 1977 with two children and settled in Lewisville.

He was a devoted Grandpa affectionately known as Peepaw, a father, husband, brother, uncle, friend and believer of God. Allyn loved his children and never missed any of their activities even when they were adults. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. He loved attending their sports games, going to see their artwork displayed, attending concerts and especially cheering them on.

Allyn was an active and devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Lewisville for 50 years. He especially loved Christmas and both he and Helen would turn their house into a winter wonderland with their decorations. He went on many Star Fish Mission trips with the church where he was master of the griddle. He acquired a Ham Radio License at the age of 12, which started his love for electronics and technology. He was a yearbook photographer at Memphis High School and continued at Texas Tech. His passion for photography continued throughout his life capturing special moments through his lens. Allyn was a golf fanatic and was part of the Lake Park Senior League in Lewisville. He was a supporter of all Lewisville High School athletics, especially the Lewisville football team where he attended every home game. Allyn had a big heart and passion for Christian Community Action (CCA). He spent many years volunteering his time and talents, most recently serving on the finance committee. Allyn will be missed but his family rejoices in knowing that he is in heaven with his new body, reuniting with his loved ones, meeting Jesus, and technologically improving heaven.

Allyn is survived by his son Sam Harrison and wife Angie, daughter Julie and husband Jeff Culp; grandchildren, Nikolai Culp, Allyn Cole Harrison, Jake Harrison, Ashlyn O'Rourke and Lauren O'Rourke; siblings Sharon Wheatly Alexander, Carleen Alderman and Jim Harrison and his wife, Jan along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Allyn is predeceased by his wife, Helen; his parents, Carl and Ruth Harrison; brother-inlaws John Alderman, Earl Wheatly and Jon Alexander.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service on Saturday, July 18, at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1002 Fox Ave., Lewisville, Texas, 75067. Overflow parking will be at the elementary school across the street.
