Dr. Alexander A. (Alex) Manning passed into eternal life peacefully at home in Texas on December 14, 2024.

Alexander was born in Pennsylvania, the third son of Michael John and Audrey Mae Manning. After high school Alex played the trombone and traveled with a dance band.

In the 1950s Alex was accepted into the United States Air Force Aviation Cadet program. He became a navigator with the Military Air Transport Service (MATS), reaching the rank of lieutenant before his initial release. Recalled during the Cuban missile crisis, Alex worked as a Flight Facilities Officer and gained the rank of captain.

While serving in the Air Force, Alex met the love of his life, Irene Camillucci. Irene was a lovely Air Force flight attendant who made sure she crossed his path. Both devout Catholics, Alex was considering the priesthood, but Irene enlisted the help of Saint Jude to ask that Alex would choose her, and he did. They married in November of 1959.

After leaving the Air Force, Alex pursued and earned a Ph.D. in clinical neuropsychology. His distinguished career included twenty years as the head of the Department of Psychology at Broughton Hospital in Morganton, North Carolina, during which he received the Governor's Award for Excellence from the state of North Carolina. Following his time at Broughton Hospital, Alex spent an additional twenty years in private practice in clinical neuropsychology in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Alex is survived by Irene, his wife of 65 years, by his son Thaddeus and wife Erin, his son Christopher, and by his grandchildren Keelin, Allison and Hayley. He leaves behind many dear friends whom he sincerely loved as well.

There will be a Mass held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 6500 Crawford Rd., Argyle, TX 76226.  Service times as follows:

Visitation: 9:30 am – 10:00 am
Rosary: 10:00 am – 10:30 am
Mass: 10:30 am

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Saint Mark Catholic Church building fund (Denton, TX); Texas Right to Life; or Loretto House (Denton Texas).
