Announcement of Death

Alan Craig Harding, age 76, passed away in Denton Texas on March 6, 2026. Alan loved Christ, family and his Country.

Key life details and milestones

Born in Iowa Falls, Iowa in 1949 and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1967.  He was an avid athlete excelled in track and field and wrestling. After high school he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1968-1976. Alan graduated from the University of Albuquerque in 1980 with a B.A. of University Studies with an emphasis in Criminology.

He was a gifted artist in all mediums but excelled in watercolors and charcoal mediums. He painted with his eyes, his heart and his memories. His family and friends understood how important his art was in his life. He was recognized with several awards for his craft, which he appreciated, but his greatest joy was found in gifting his creations to others.

Work information

He began his sales career with Imperial Oil and Grease in New Mexico in 1978 and became area manager in Dallas, Texas. As the Vice-President of Applied Energy and Hydrotex Lubricants Companies, Alan traveled all over the United States selling and providing expert assistance to improve product flow and customer service. His charisma, easy-going personality, and personal touch helped him develop professional and personal lasting relationships. He mentored many salesmen to success.

Surviving family and important relationships

Alan is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Branaugh Harding. They enjoyed a life full of adventures and love. Alan will be deeply missed by sister Karen Harding Poole (Matthew) or Mesa, Arizona, who was extremely close to her beloved brother. Alan is also survived by his daughter Rebekah Harding Carpenter and grandchildren including Evelyn Harding Carpenter, Cynthia Anne Carpenter, and Malcom Cameron Carpenter. Alan's step-sons, Patrick Grant (Tara) Branaugh and Andrew (Adriana) Branaugh and grandchildren Kylie Branaugh and Mia Branaugh, Leighton Branaugh and Ana-Maria Branaugh and brother John (Lois) Harding of Georgetown, Texas. All his nieces and nephews will miss him deeply.

He was proceeded in death by his loving parents, Sam and Leona Harding. Also, by Melissa Gay Taylor Harding (mother of Rebekah).

Service details, memorial plans, and cremation choices

Alan's celebration of life will be held on April 25, 1pm at the Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church at 6101 Morris Rd., Flower Mound, TX. In lieu of flowers please send donations to MUSC Foundation, in honor of Sherly Prisby, directly online: https://fundraise.musc.edu/fundraiser/4255984
