James E. Higgins

James Edward Higgins was born on March 23, 1925 in Hebron, TX to Blake and Myrtle Higgins. He passed away on October 2, 2012 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was a 1942 graduate of Lewisville High School, a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, and a veteran of WW II. He married Nell Jean Farmer on November 23, 1955 in Lewisville, TX. He was a 33° Scottish Rite Mason and Master of the Scottish Rite Fourth Degree team. He was past Master of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge A.F.A.M. and served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 84th Masonic District. He was the recipient of the Golden Trowel Award, past President of the Peters Colony Shrine Club, past Worthy Patron of the Lewisville OES, and a member of York Rite. He was a retired Realtor/Broker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved granddaughter, Brandi. He is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons, Warren (Candy) and Brian; four granddaughters, Shannon Bogan (Brendan), Kelly Higgins (Landon), Lindsay and Lexie Higgins; one grandson, Justin Higgins (Missy); two great-granddaughters, Kaleigh Bogan and Marlee Higgins; two great-grandsons, Blake Higgins and Houston Young; and close family friend, Tammy Mann. Services will be held Friday, October 5, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Lewisville, with burial following at Old Hall Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 4, from 6:30-8:30 pm at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, TX 75219-3993.
