Tuesday morning, September 25, 2012, Ronald Edward Gray passed away due to complications following an angioplasty at Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton, Texas. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, his son Matthew, and his daughters Jennifer (Steven) Kray and Katie (Nicholas) Rooney; and his beautiful grandchildren Grace, Noah, and Junie.
Ronald Edward Gray had many nicknames given by those he was closest to. He was known as Captain Ron with his friends and family; The Gray Ghost with his hunting buddies; The Silver Fox because of his full head of silver hair and Bank of Dad when his children were in a bind. Most importantly he was known as Cappy to his grandchildren, Dad to his children, and Ron to his wife of 41 years.
He never spoke an ill word of anyone he ever met and was quick to lend a hand, a kind word or a cold beer to anyone in need. He will fondly be remembered for his business casual wardrobe of red swim trunks and white t-shirts, flannel jackets, straw hats, love for McDonald's breakfast, getting the blower out, squirrel hunting in the backyard with his trusty pup Ellie, and keeping the ground cool during those hot Texas summers by hosing down the patio while his family lounged in the pool.
He was a faithful member of the Catholic church his entire life and his family is resting in the hope that he is with his Lord and Savior and is finally reunited with loved ones that have passed before him. Ron was a blessing to his family and his family takes comfort knowing he lived a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. He leaves a legacy of children who hope to care for their families like he cared for them. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, September 28, 2012 at 9:00AM, St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Lewisville, Texas. Ron’s family will have a reception following the Mass at the church.
